The crutch is a medical instrument created to facilitate the walking of the injured or disabled. 

On May 5, 2022, at Galle May Green in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a peaceful anti-government protest camp was attacked by a group of people using ‘clubs and other weapons’. One of the weapons they were assailed with was a crutch. 

In the photo I found from that day, a man is wielding a crutch like a club. He has raised the crutch over his head while stepping forward on his left foot. His face is stretched, so his moustache looks even more formidable. You cannot see in the photograph who or what his whole body and mind are stretching towards. 

The violent attacks of civilians on the peaceful camp led to a state of emergency in Sri Lanka.

The crutch wielders were used as crutches to wield violent control over the country.
