 Hong Kong’s independence and autonomous movements have been energetic and many-faced. They share the will for Hong Kong to retain its self-determination. They want to reject the encroachment of Beijing’s influence on how business can be run, what can be published, who gets to represent the people of Hong Kong and how the electoral process works. Some want Hong Kong to be an independent state and some just want to be autonomous. The state and methods of organisation in the protests between 2014-2020 inspired other protest movements around the world. One of the objects that started to travel around the world between the different protest movements is a helmet.
